Rural Homes, Real Winters

Most of Orange County is rural, and piped natural gas isn't available in most of it. There are small villages, farms and homes spread along back roads, with heating oil or propane delivered to a tank in the yard or basement. That brings familiar challenges: fuel prices that swing every winter, long driveways, and storms that knock out power on country roads.

A cold-climate heat pump can take over much of the heating season and cut how often the fuel truck has to come. Many of our customers keep their oil or propane furnace or boiler as backup for the coldest nights and for outages. For older farmhouses and village homes without ducts, ductless mini-splits add efficient heat and summer cooling room by room. Homes with ductwork can pair a ducted heat pump with the existing furnace.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you serve Randolph and Chelsea?

Yes. Both are part of our service area, about 35 to 45 minutes from our Berlin shop depending on the route. Pricing is the same across all three counties, with no extra trip charge for farther towns.

Is a heat pump worth it for a rural Orange County home?

For many homes, yes, especially if you heat with oil or propane. A heat pump can carry much of the season, and your existing system stays as backup.

Do you offer 24/7 emergency service in Orange County?

Yes. Our 24/7 emergency service is open to everyone, no membership required. We'll give you an honest arrival time when you call. After hours, we typically call you back within 30 to 45 minutes and have a tech on site within 1 to 3 hours whenever we can. Weather, roads and distance affect timing, so we can't guarantee it.

What should I do about power outages?

Heat pumps need electricity, so plan for backup heat. Many rural customers keep a fuel-fired furnace or boiler for outages and the coldest nights.
